Delivering Technology Projects with Cisco

by on

Downer’s Next Generation Technologies business (NGT) has delivered the first phase of a new smart cities security infrastructure project for the Western Australian Government in line with the state’s CCTV strategy.

NGT’s integrated solution incorporates network and hosting infrastructure which is designed to securely consolidate disparate CCTV intelligence feeds into a central monitoring platform.

The new solution enables access to over 10 remote CCTV sites (all using different systems) and more than 2,000 cameras.

Partnering for Success
With the critical need to deliver sophisticated infrastructure security, NGT partnered with Cisco to integrate the latest technologies including Cisco’s new Firepower product. Ensuring visibility into network devices, applications, users, operating system and files moving across the network, Firepower is a key component of the security infrastructure.

The solution was delivered as the first joint project under the Downer and Cisco Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to collaborate on the internet of things (IoT) and smart cities projects. The partnership will continue as NGT assists the Western Australian Government to connect additional remote sites to the central monitoring platform.

Cisco has produced a short video and case study which you can view here.

The new system also utilises Nanodems physical security information management (PSIM) software.
